Ustawi means ‘wellbeing’ in Swahili,
a reminder that mental health support is not separate from life, but an integral part of caring for yourself.

A note from Jennifer
I started Ustawi Practice after seven years of working in mental health and mentoring across universities, private clinics, GP services, and community mental health settings in the United Kingdom and the Netherlands.
Over the years, I came to understand that many people carry a great deal internally while continuing with their daily lives, and that asking for support is not always easy.
For some, their experiences did not feel 'serious enough'. Others feared being a burden. For many, stigma or feeling culturally misunderstood made it difficult to open up at all.
Ustawi Practice was built as a different kind of response. There is no threshold of 'serious enough' here. If something is weighing on you, that is reason enough to come.
You won't be passed between professionals or asked to start over each time; you work with one person, consistently, for as long as you need. And your background, your context, the way you make sense of things, that belongs in the room. It is not something to translate or set aside.
